This is a  2 map set of the town of Canaan, CT from 1874. This map set was recently reproduced on fine natural color parchment. Their 11"x 17" and suitable to fit a standard size frame.

Contained on the maps are finely detailed locations of the homeowners of the town of Canaan.  The first map (which is partially shown)  is that of the town of North Canaan and Canaan. It includes the villages of Sodom, Canaan Valley, Huntsville, Lower City, Falls Village, Lime Rock, Amesville, Clayton, East Canaan, South Canaan and Canaan. This map shows the homesteads and farms with the owners named as well as the areas of Canaan Country Club, Wangum Lake, Housatonic Railroad and the CT Western Railroad.  The second map contains 2 vues of the downtown or business sections of East Canaan and Canaan which also shows the many homeowners and business owners.
Some of the surnames which are clearly printed are Watson, Adam, Branch, Sanford, Mill, Harris, Ferris, Page, Butler and so many more that it's impossible to list! Also indicated on the map are schools, named streets, railroads and rivers/streams.
This fine piece of history would indeed make quite a conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything!
