Description

This is a map which shows where everyone lived in the Town of New Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut in 1867 and was reproduced on fine natural color parchment. It's 11"x 17" and suitable to fit a standard sizeframe or can be matted to fit a larger museum quality mat.
The pictures provided only show portions of the actual maps!

Contained on the map are finely detailed locations of the homeowners of New Fairfield. Due to the limited size of my scanner bed the first picture shows only a portion of the map. The next 2 pictures show in more detail the top and bottom. What's most interesting about this map is what isn't shown, and that is Candlewood lake. What is shown are the farms that were gobbled up by the making of the lake. Scuba divers have noted that many of the farm structures are still intact down at the bottom. Some of the other significant features which weren't yet developed are Margerie Manor, Margerie Lake Reservoir, East Lake Reservoir, Bigelow Corners and Candlewood Knolls. Also shown are Squantz Pond and Ball Pond.
Some of the surnames which are clearly printed are Betts, Kellogg, Knapp, Taylor, Pierce, Barnum, Palmer, Hayes, Rogers, Warner, Treadwell and so many more that it's impossible to list! Also indicated on the map are schools,  streets, railroads and rivers/streams.
This map would indeed make quite a conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything! What a great genealogical treasure to be able to locate the homes of one or more of your ancestors!  Multiple purchases can be combined for one shipping charge!
